Man charged with sex assault
A Lexington County man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman as he held her and her aunt hostage for more than five hours Saturday, authorities said Monday.Steven Ross Johnson, 38, is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, assault and battery with intent to kill and two counts each of spousal sexual battery and kidnapping, Sheriff James R. Mettssaid.
Candidates take broad shots at each other

Cheryl Footman said God told her to run for state office in January, but he didn’t specify which one, said Footman in an election debate Monday with Secretary of State Mark Hammond.The teacher from Orangeburg said she thought about running for state superintendent of education but chose instead to run as the Democratic candidate for S.C. secretary of state.
