VW Phaeton 2011 available in Middle East
Volkswagen has announced the availability of the new Phaeton in the Middle East. The 2011 Phaeton is offered with two wheelbases as well as two rear seating versions, three seat bench or two individual seats. The German car maker said that three petrol engines will be available in the Middle East. The six, eight and twelve cylinder engines cover a power range extending from 280bhp to 450bhp. The six-cylinder petrol engine in the Phaeton is a V6 direct-injection engine with FSI 280bhp. At the power levels above the V6 FSI, a V8 and a W12 petrol engine are available, offering 335bhp and 450bhp, respectively. [AMEInfo.com]
Jaguar launches recall in Middle East
Jaguar is recalling more than 200 XF and XK models in the GCC region because of a problem with the fuel pump, according to Automiddleeast.com. The in-tank electric fuel pump may, under certain conditions, not activate properly, resulting in the engine cutting out unexpectedly. The solution involves the installation of new software, the car maker said. The 203 cars affected in the GCC are the 2010 model year 5.0-litre XF (VIN numbers R36913 to R59480) and the 2010/11 model XK (VIN numbers B28268 to B39482). [AMEInfo.com]
BMW sales rise 9% in Oman
Al Jenaibi International Automobiles, the exclusive importer of BMW cars in Oman, has recorded a 9% increase in sales for BMW, while sales of Mini cars in the Sultanate had more than doubled during the first half of 2010 compared to the same period last year. The BMW 7 series remained the top selling model, followed by the BMW 5 series. Sales of the BMW 3 and X5 series grew by 27% and 11%, respectively, the firm said. [AMEInfo.com]
Ford Middle East sales up 31% in H1
Ford Middle East has reported 31% sales growth during the first six months of 2010 over the same period last year. SUVs and trucks led the surge with 46% increases, while cars posted 18% growth in sales across the region led by the new Ford Fusion and Taurus. Nissan recalls Patrols in the UAE
Nissan Middle East has recalled more than a thousand Nissan Patrols in the UAE for electronic problems that could affect the fuel supply and stall the engine, The National has reported. Cars affected are the 2010 model with Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) A9000112 to A90004207. An integrated circuit inside the electronic control module (ECM) could potentially break, which could cause the fuel injectors to stop working. "We have asked customers to come in to the dealership and we will replace the ECM circuit with one that has been counter measured so that would solve the problem instantly," Monal Zeidan, the general manager of marketing and communications for Nissan Middle East said.
