Granada - Alhambra (Spain) Granada is best know for its massive Alhambra. This is an amazing piece of architecture, a fortres and palace dating back to the times when the Moores occupied Spain. In particular the Nazrid Palace is a must see. Do buy tickets in advance to avoid dissapointment en queueing for hours to get in. Berchules (Spain) Berchules is located west of Mairena. We stayed here in another Casa Rural, El Paraje. An absolutely beautifull location to spend the night. There are also some great hikes to be made in the surrounding arrea. Even though it is not too far from our previous location, the scenery is very different. It seems to be different in every valley you enter. Mairena (Spain) Mairena, the first stop on our holiday through the Alpujarras region of Spain, south of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. A quiet little town that is a good base for exploring the region on foot. Santiago (Chile) The capital of Chile, Santiago, was the final destination of my trip through Argentina and Chile. It has a simular atmosphere than Buenos Aires, maybe a little more relaxed. A good ending to a great holiday. Punta Tumbo (Argentina) Punta Tumbo is located about half way on the Argentinian coast, near Trelew and Peninsula Valdes. It is home to a breeding colony of Magellanic Penguin. Always great animals to observe, wherever you are. San Martin de los Andes (Argentina) San Martin is located near the bigger town of Bariloche, but is much smaller. A nice place to relax, hike or mountainbike. Buenos Aires (Argentina) Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. The first stop on our trip to Patagonia. We arrived in the morning and had to leave at 5 in the morning the next day. So not much time to see the city. We took a bike tour around the city to make the most of the time we had. Seeing the city on a bike is maybe not the most obvious way to see a city, but you cover a lot of ground and it is fun. Tierra del Fuego (Argentina) The Tierra del Fuego National Park is located on the southernmost tip of South America, near Ushuaia. On the day we went there is was very cloudy and raining. Not the best day for hiking, but still a great place to wander. Pucon (Chile) Pucon is a town from which a lot of activities can be undertaken. The most interesting is probably climbing the Villarica Volcano, which unfortunately I was unable to do. I did go hiking on the lower parts of the volcano with snow boots and took a tour through a lava tube. Did some horse riding and a canopy tour. And there are lots of other things to do in Pucon. Torres del Paine 2 (Chile) More pictures of the great Torres del Paine. This time from two other treks, one to Glaciar Grey and the other through the French Valley
