THE INTERNET
Now you are starting to use broadband internet service and it seems you don't exactly know how to begin. Getting trained about isp services can not be considered an easy task but we are willing to push hard on this page. In general we can think of internet as an endless net of thousands of intermingled connections, or to see it more graphically,like a net of railroad lines. There is a computer in each station able to transfer you to other stations on the line (internet) or alternatively, can represent you final point of destination.

Where are you located in this bundle of lines?
In case you are a dialup, a broadband connection or simply a web site hosting customer you can think of yourself (your computer) as one of the stations on the railroad line. Looking from your customer perspective, your entry point to the internet line is through your station. On the contrary, from the perspective of a web site hosting customers, your station is just a place where others come to.
Then, What kind of people are your traveling mates?
In a real physical sense you never board the train, instead you use some helpers to retrieve and send the information you want. For instance, when your are visiting a website (www.anyplace.com), you use an isp provider, a specialized helper, well trained in the web. His task is to get on the train in your station and go to the station (www.anyplace.com)
By reaching this point your helper picks up the information you need and at once brings it back to you in your station. It is like if whenever you click on a link on any site, this helper has to go and come back with information for you. Also, if you are sending somme e mails, you can think as if you are using a helper specialized in this task. He promptly gets into the train from your station and goes to the station where your ISP's mail machine is located. In this point your helper leaves the note and immediately travel back to where you are. In turn, the ISP's mail machine send your message to the addressee's mail stop, which is normally his ISP.
